Amber Turner invited to Christian Hook's private painting of Actor Simon Callow
I fell in love with actor Simon Callow's portrayal of his 'larger than life' character Gareth in the hit movie in 1994, 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', which also featured Hugh Grant (as Charles) and Andie McDowell (as Carrie). Mr Callow was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award for Best Actor in Supporting role. It was therefore very exciting to be invited to Christian Hook's private live portrait painting of Simon Callow at Clarendon's Mayfair Gallery, which Mr Callow attended with his spouse Sebastian Fox. Mr Callow is an English actor, writer, theatre and opera director and has taken part in countless number of TV series and films.
Christian enjoyed a conversation with Mr Callow as he developed his portrait painting, as Christian always explores the character of the person he is painting to somehow involve the person in the process. Christian doesn't just paint what he sees, but also paints the energy he feels from the person. It was a truly memorable experience and I very much look forward with great enthusiasm to the next event. Thank you Christian for your invite.
